Getting to Crunch Time May 4, 2006
Two more women were released today by Seattle; Tocarra Williams
PG from Texas A&M and 2nd round pick (#25 overall) Dalila Eshe,
a 6'3" post/forward from Florida. Roster is down to 12 players.
Lindsay will be suiting up for their first exhibition game on
Sunday (as of this moment).
This could be exciting because Seattle is a play-off bound type
team whereas the Mercury still are not. |
Who is going to make the Roster May 4,
2006
I
think Eshe's days are numbered. Taylor seems to be impressing.
Johnson's not going to have it easy coming in so late.
Williams seems to be doing ok for a couple days in camp. It
might play out like last year with Zara coming in late, but it
will depend on who's on the waiver wire. |

Lindsay Makes Another Round of Cuts May 3,
2006
Erin Grant of Texas Tech and Lindsey Yamasaki are cut today.
Bummer in the sense that they are both friends of Lindsay's, but
good in the sense that the magic number is getting closer for
making the team. Lindsay reports that she really wants to play
for Coach Anne Donovan. |

Lindsay Makes First Cut April 26, 2006
Seattle released Jordan Adams and Leah Metcalf
today. At the moment Seattle only has 8 active players. Lauren
Jackson and Janell Burse are injuried but in camp. Sue Bird has
not made it back from Europe as of yet. Two post players coming
into camp tomorrow.........aol.wnba.com/storm/news/taylor060426.html |
News April 24, 2006
Lindsay had less than 24 hours in Phoenix before she left for
Seattle. She seemed in good shape and in good spirits. I have a
good feeling about this camp. Lindsay has been in two already so
she knows what to expect.
If there is no news on Mia by now, it maybe she has decided to
sit it out. Lindsay wasn't even sure if she would go back to
Turkey. |

| Good News April 12, 2006
Lindsay's team Botas has advanced into the semi-finals of the
Turkish Womens Basketball Play-offs against the regular season
champions Fennerbahce. This is good news, but also some more
exciting news is that Lindsay will be in the Seattle Storm
training camp, so she will have to immediately come back to the
good ole' US and go up to Seattle. Hardly any time for family on
this go around.www.eurobasket.com/TUR/TUR.asp?women=1 |
| Any news. April 9, 2006
aol.wnba.com/storm/news/taylor060413.htmlJust heard from Lindsay,
who is still in Turkey playing in the Turkish Womens play-offs.
It seems there is a certain Northwest team in the WNBA that is
showing interest. That would work, just the experience is always
great stuff. But I always have to remind myself that the WNBA is
not always the end all for a full and successful basketball
career. Many players, both male and female, have had great
careers overseas, credibility and financially wise. So whatever
happens, she can bankroll the experience as many have in the
past and since. |
Botas
Wins, Istanbul Loses, Botas Qualifies for the Eurocup.
April 1,
Lindsay had 20 points and 12
rebounds as Botas wins 83-59 over Erdemir Spor. Needless to say
the team functionaires were extremely happy.......... and
Lindsay says they intend to show their gratitude

Mia and her team finished with the first place Fenerbahce and
lost. Mia still managed 23 points.

Turkish
Womens BB Stats March 23, 2006
www.tbf.org.tr/tur/0506/1B/LIG_A3.HTM
Some goods stats for Mia and Lindsay in the Turkish Womens BB
League. Lindsay's stats are very Lindsay'esque. Nothing that
would necessarily cause someone to go "wow, look at her", but
nonetheless very solid numbers that have contributed to her
teams success.
Lindsay's team Botas has their last regular season game this
upcoming weekend against Erdemir at home. It is a must win game
for Botas. But to take sole possession of fourth place and
subsequently qualify for the Eurocup, Botas must hope that
Istanbul Univ. loses to Mersin in Mersin. Anything is possible
and qualifying for the Eurocup will be an added bonus for
traveling into Europe to play the Eurocup series. |
Mia scores 38 points.
March 13, 2006
Mia had a huge game, unfortunately
it came in a one point loss for her team TED Kayseri at home to
Erdemir. This is only wishful thinking, but it would be great if
Mia and Lindsay could team up again.
1. Fenerbahce 19-1
2. Besiktas 18-2
3. Ceyhan 15-5
4. IUSK 12-8
5. Botas 11-9

| On a
happier note. March 12, 2006
Lindsay's team Botas beat their arch
rival Mersin 81-71 in Mersin. This was a big win because it puts
them in a solid fifth place and in position to take fourth place
should Istanbul U. falter in their last two games. Lindsay had
another solid double/double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. As
has been typical her play and stats pick up toward the end of
the season. Botas has two games left as they go into their post
season tournament. Maybe like UC Riverside Women, they can come
on at the end and win their tournament. |
Mia scores 31 points in a
loss. March 5, 2006
Great effort by Mia Fisher, 31
points is the most I remember her ever scoring (probably since
high school). Unfortunately, this scoring explosion came at home
in Kayseri, Turkey in a loss to Mersin, a team just ahead of her
team in the standings ..... bummer for her team TED Kayseri
because this was a must win to keep their hopes alive to qualify
for the Eurocup.
Lindsay's team Botas also feel short in a must win game against
Cankaya Univ. 66-64 in Ankara, Turkey in Cankaya's home gym.
Lindsay managed 34 minutes with 17 points and 12 rebounds while
also fouling out. I am sure the loss to a team they are ahead of
in the standings was painful. Cankaya has Stacy Stephens of U of
Texas fame and Doneeka Hodges of LSU notority, both of whom I
know Lindsay is pals with, so I am sure they probably went out
together after the game.
1. Besiktas 17-1
2. Fenerbahce 17-1
3. Ceyhan 13-5
4. Mersin 10-8
5. IUSK 10-8
6. Botas 9-9

Fisher Makes the International All-Star Team - Feb. 21, 2006
Exciting news for Mia Fisher, she made the International
All-Star team that will play the Turkish All-Star team. Each
team in the Turkish Womens League has an international
representative. Lindsay's team Botas will be represented by
Sheana Mosch. I am sure this will be a lot of fun for Mia, and a
great venue to showcase her talent. |
Bummer, Botas Gets Thumped - Feb. 18, 2006
Botas lost to their cross town rival Ceyhan 90-70. Although this
was not an expected victory, it would have allowed Botas to
control their own destiny in trying to qualify for the
Euroleague. Now Botas must win all of their their remaining five
games while hoping Istanbul Univ. falters more than once.
On a brighter side, the Eurobasket website stated the following,
"So well played Taylor." Lindsay finished with 21 points. |
Huge
Game this Weekend for Botas - Feb. 14, 2006
Lindsay's team Botas
plays Ceyhan (third place team) this week at home. It could be
their game of the season. Both teams home turf is Adana, Turkey
so at least neither team has to travel far. Last meeting Botas
lost 68-76. The difference now is that Ceyhan has also added
Sondra Irvin (TCU/Phx. Mercury) to the roster. This should be
exciting for Lindsay because both her and Sondra were in Mercury
camp together. But Lindsay reports that her team is really
playing well and has come together. Erica Valek-Mantella is
starting to look like the Erica Valek from her Purdue days.
A win here could solidify Botas position as being the most
improved Turkish women's team this year. |
Botas
Wins, Istanbul U.Loses and Mia's Team Wins in an Upset - Feb. 8,
2006
Lindsay's team Botas wins an
important game against Burhaniye at home. Apparently, Botas fell
way behind to start the game and were behind at half 40-25.
Lindsay did not score in the first half, but scored 15 points in
the second half. She ended up with 16 rebounds (yea!!!). Lindsay
said the Team Functionaires were really happy with the win. So,
it was a very important win. Couple this with the fact that
Istanbul U. lost to Fenerbahce (Nicole Powell's team), this
moved Botas closer to the coveted fourth place slot. And to add
spice to the mix, Mia's team seems to be really coming on. They
upset the third place team, Ceyhan (Lindsay's team last year).
They are also in striking distance of maybe finishing in fourth
place.
So all in all a good week for the Gaucho women, both current and
ex. |
| Lindsay
- Feb. 1, 2006
Lindsay's team along with the whole Turkish League had their
games postponed due to severe weather this past week. Botas
(Lindsay's team) has lost it's last two games, however it must
be noted that those losses were to the two top teams in the
Turkish Womens standings. So although you never like to lose, at
least they were games they were not expected to win. Their big
game is in a couple of weeks against Istanbul University (Kayte's
team while she was in Turkey). Botas needs to win that game and
hope Istanbul University losses to all the top three teams and a
game to a team lower in the standings than themselves and Botas
losses only one more game (most likely to the third place team).
That would make Istanbul and Botas tied for fourth. How a tie
breaker is applied is beyond my comprehension of the Turkish
Basketball Federation. Once again, to finish in fourth place or
better qualifies the team for the Euroleague which is then
played the following year. What makes that desireable is the
fact that you have to then travel to other countries to play a
home and home series. |
Lindsay is Back in Turkey
- Jan. 1, 2006
After having
a super Christmas and New Years at home, Lindsay went back to
Turkey with some good expectations of where her team could finish.
They are presently tied for fifth with Mersin at 6-5. They are one
game behind Istanbul Univ. If they can finish ahead of Istanbul
Univ. and Mersin and finish fourth they would then qualify for the
Euroleague. With that qualification, they would then travel
outside of Turkey next season. That would certainly heighten the
experience of playing overseas. Anyway, something to look forward
to and a reason to have a great second half of the season. Much
like the Gaucho Women, a great second half can make it all that
much better.
