Qujing-Yunnan Win Their Finale

To end with a win is nice, but just as important Lindsay was named to the 2012 WCBA South All-Star team.  Good way for Lindsay to say so long to China for the season.  Unfortunately Qujing-Yunnan did not make the WCBA play-offs.

Comment - Lindsay I have been really impressed with your overall performance in China - you are being asked to play all 40 minutes - but you are still contributing at a very high level
Sadly it seems you will not make the play-offs - is it too early to talk about a possible contract in Europe until the end of the season ? You are in great shape and I would love to see you on an Euroleague team
Still have not managed to find any web sites which stream your games in China - are there any ?
Finally - once again you have been a real credit to yourself this season - enjoy your life

ONE LAST CHANCE

In an odd way, it is only fitting that Yunnan-Qujing has a chance, although slight, to make the playoffs.  All they have to do is win their next three games.  The next two games are against playoff bound teams and the last would be against the very team they need to beat to make the playoffs.  So the chance is there, although slight.  Lindsay's last game she stepped back a little, only scoring 33 points as opposed to 35 points in the previous game.  Instead she stepped up her rebounding and grabbed 16 rebounds.  Certainly good enough to be Player of the Week, but we will have to wait to see on that one.  First order of business is to beat the top team, Shenyang, at home in Qujing!

失望 means Disappointment in Chinese

How disappointing can it be to score 35 points and lose a game in overtime?  Merely ask Lindsay Taylor who scored 35 big ones and her team Yunnan-Qujing lost in overtime to Guangdong.  This team from the Yunnan province has definitely hit the downward skid, and there seems to be no one or way that it can turn around.  The playoffs are clearly out of the picture and they can start the preverbal "wait 'til always next year".  About the only thing worth playing for is to be voted onto the 2012 WCBA South All-Star team.  In last year's all-star game, Lindsay was the leading scorer for the South.

Game this Weekend against Beijing

Most important game of the year for Yunnan.  This could determine whether they are in the post-season playoffs.  Lindsay is playing against her friend Nicky Anosike (Tennessee '08 & WNBA Washington Mystics) who is the top player for Beijing.

Here I go again, living vicariously through my youngest daughter. Lindsay is now the leading scorer in the WCBA. Unfortunately at the same time her team has dropped from being the top team to being in the middle of the pack. Her team Yunnan is on a five game road trip that can certainly set the tune of their season.

What a great life experience! As I was talking to Lindsay on Skype, and she described how there previous game was against Shenyang, and that her hotel was looking out at a river that had two bridges, and on the other side of the river was North Korea. The city in question is Dandong, and one of the bridges is the Broken Bridge ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Korean_Friendship_Bridge ... Wow, now that's interesting and very historic, right out of the Korean War. As we talked further she stated they were now in Harbin, China .......... yes Harbin, the city that bills itself as the "Paris of China"! Double Wow to that!! How many people can say they've played in Paris, France and also the "Paris of China" ......... in the same Year??!!!

Lindsay's Stock is Rising, Her Team Yunnan's is Dropping
Lindsay is now the leading scorer in the WCBA.  Making it more special is the fact that she passed her teammate from last year, Xiao Ji to become the leader.  Unfortunately at the same time her team has dropped from being the top team to being in the middle of the pack.  Her team Yunnan is on a five game road trip that can certainly set the tune of their season.  A couple of good wins keeps them in the hunt for the post season playoffs.  Going along with being the leading scorer comes the reality that teams are double and triple teaming her at every chance.  Hopefully she can continue her great showing; twice Player of the Week, and at the same time help get her team on track.

                        Player of the Week Again!!!
Lindsay is WCBA Player of the Week for a second time after having a 26 pt. 10 rebound game and then a 31 pt. 15 rebound game.  Unfortunately her team has fallen into a five way tie in second place.  I think she is really liking the chicken heads and rice .......... just kidding and not really.  She has found a Pizza Hut in Qujing that she says has pretty much saved her from starvation.

Lindsay Starting to Tear It Up in China Again
Things are once again extremely bright for Lindsay Taylor in China!  Against Shanghai, the top team in the WCBA, Lindsay's Yunnan-Qujing won 84-68, while she had a double-double scoring 35 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking 3 shots.  This victory puts Yunnan-Qujing tied for first place with a 4-1 record.  The next three games are at home, so it will make for a great possibility for this team to stay in first!

Lindsay top scorer for the round and team is in first place.

Lindsay China Part II

It's that time of year again in China; WCBA 2011-12.  Three games into the season and Lindsay Taylor's Yunnan-Qujing team is tied for first with a 3-0 record.  Her last game she had 27 points and 7 blocked shots.  So she is once again feeling at home in China.  Because of the Summer Olympics this coming summer, the Chinese season has started early and will end early.

Lindsay Returns to Qujing-Yunnan, China

October 28, 2011 Lindsay has returned to the same team she was with last year in Qujing!  Practices for her have been difficult even though  she left in good condition and flew 1st class.  Anyway, I keep reinforcing the old saying, "just hang in there and take one day at a time".  That was two weeks ago and she seems to be cheering up a little.  Her first game is in Qujing on Saturday Nov. 5th against Zhijiang who finished just ahead of Qujing in the standing last year.  Once the season starts I think Lindsay's mood will improve.
I will do an update next week leading up to their first game.  I am hoping Lindsay will take a few cool pictures (she bought a new camera).  She said she would send them to me (she lives northwest of the city of Kunming on the map  below).  I asked for a picture of her in front of the Wal-Mart which is just  down the street from where she lives or a picture from practice.

Mia Fisher's (left) clutch shooting during the final quarter against Illkirch-Graffenstaden made the difference as her side held on to win (76-70). Fisher finished the game with 23 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. Céline Schmitt-Sendner for the SIG finished the game as top scorer with 24 points.
